Blue's Story
Blue is the latest addition to BAWCS permanent residents given her health issues detected after coming into care back in September 2024.
Originally scheduled for a ‘trial’ with a potential new family, Blue started showing signs of ‘cat flu’ with nasal discharge. She was treated with the usual antibiotic for this condition however it didn’t clear up so further investigation was undertaken.
Diagnosed with chronic upper respiratory tract disease, Blue will need nasal flushes twice yearly to help with the discomfort caused by this disease. Blue is not unduly bothered by the condition, the only signs are snuffling and very loud purring! Given she is eating well and will have regular vet checks, her quality of life is fine so she will remain in BAWCS care for the rest of her days.
And yes, her pupils aren’t the same! This condition is known as anisocoria in cats and is defined as a significant difference in the pupil size of each eye.
Blue has been checked out by our vet who has advised it is related to her chronic upper respiratory tract disease and we should not be worried about it.
Sponsorship will assist with her daily management and of course nasal flushes and any other veterinary care required.
