Peanut's Story

Profile update 2024 – Peanut is now 15 years old!

Peanut came into BAWCS Shelter care back in 2013 after her owner passed away.

She was very scared and out of sorts on arrival so it took some time for her to settle in. During this time, we realized Peanut had vision issues – she could still see but we suspected this added to her ‘spicy’ demeanor.

As time went by, it was clear Peanut was going to be quite challenging to rehome given her unpredictability in mood, so it was decided she should enter our permanent residents program where she would be safe forever.

Peanut has quite a unique character and is one of our more challenging cats… but we love her and adjusted to doing things on her terms.

As Peanut has matured she has been less inclined to keep her coat ‘tidy’ so it is shaved on an annual basis. Her senior years have also mellowed her a bit and she enjoys more affection and attention these days.

Not surprising with age comes health issues and Peanut is on thyroid medication and a special diet to support her kidneys. Despite having the majority of her teeth removed, she does quite well on renal dry food.

Your sponsorship will help support Peanut’s veterinary care as required and her dietary needs.
